Blackpool Tower

Blackpool Tower opened in 1894 and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Lifts leave for the top of the tower every 5 minutes, where on a clear day, visitors can see as far as the Lake District and North Wales.

Attractions based at the tower include a circus, the UK’s largest children’s indoor adventure playground and an aquarium.

The tower is open at weekends throughout the year and daily from April to November.

Visitors arriving using satellite navigation systems should note the postcode to use for Blackpool Tower is FY1 4BJ.

I visited this resort today with my husband Jim. We had such a splendid day out. A nice stroll down the sea front with our 99p ice cream and then we had some fish and chips which just topped off our great day out. I would love to move here. What more could you want? It's just marvellous!

The tower is fun and circus is fab! My favourite thing to do in the tower is play in jungle jims.

I went to Blackpool Tower for my 10th birthday with my two friends Kirsty and Danielle. We spent most of our time in the play area, the aquarium and on the dinosaur ride. It was a cool birthday. I would recommend it to people my age because there are wicked things to do there!

Nov 2007 - Plans to revamp Blackpool Tower have been unveiled by owners Leisure Parcs. The £3 million project will see Level 5 of the Tower completely redeveloped. Jungle Jim’s will be replaced by Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventureland, described by Leisure Parcs as ‘the most innovative and interactive play scheme of its kind in the UK’.
Based around a ‘Lost City’, the 2,500 square metre attraction will set youngsters upon a quest, taking them through a series of exciting adventures in their search to find the hidden treasure.
The glass-roofed area will include the installation of three huge ships each with separate theming, their own characters and the capacity to host dedicated children’s parties.
A number of the Tower’s architectural features, not seen by the public for over twenty five years and including several areas currently used as storage units, will be restored to their former glory, underlining the architectural significance of the 113 year old
building.
Work is expected to be complete by Easter 2008.

I went in the tower for the first time in 62 years. The circus and ballroom were absolutely out of this world. I even did the walk of faith. It was well worth the money although the person on the ticket desk was well past her sell by date. A younger person may have got us inside a lot quicker.

They need to get some new attractions in here. It's been the same stuff inside for years now.

The main problem with Blackpool Tower is that some people just want to go to the top and look around.
However you have to pay about £12 which also gets you in to see the circus, aquarium etc. This is fine if you have kids, but not such a good deal for a single male who just wants to go to the top.
